Vietnam Veteran's Museum A Moving Tribute

Original photos of Vietnam Veterans line the walls at Cumberland's Vietnam Museum. Not recent photographs - but ones taken during the Vietnam war. You don't see many smiling faces.

The Museum, is the kind that brings back memories of the experiences shared and sacrifices made by all who served in Southeast Asia. Memories of those fighting, those who never returned, those who returned, those still missing, and the families who waited for thier loved ones.

The Vietnam Veteran’s Chapter 172 has put together their story in pictures, letters and personal collections. A visit to this museum is truly an awesome experience. It left this writer in tears. This display which involves several cases, videos, books and artifacts makes it possible for families, educators, historians and school age children to better understand what the Vietnam War was all about. It is a moving tribute, and one you won't forget should you visit the museum.

The Veteran's Museum is located at 17 North Liberty Street in Downtown Cumberland, Exit 43 off I-68. Donations or loan items for the museum are greatly appreciated. For info: 1-800-482-VETS, or 301-777-7001. Online: www.vietnamwall.org or www.vietnamreflections.com.
