See West Virginia Up Close...Aboard the Potomac Eagle FALL FOLIAGE SCENIC TRAIN RIDES

No place is more beautiful than "wild and wonderful" West Virginia during the autumn months. The photo featured here is of the "Trough" - a forested canyon - accessible only by riding the Potomac Eagle Scenic Railroad, or by canoe. Does this look like a wonderful way to experience the Fall foliage? See canoers paddling along the South Branch of the Potomac River as the Eagle winds its way around the mountains. One of the most exciting experiences of the day is when passengers get to see America's national symbol, the bald eagle - flying free! Eagle sightings occur on most of the trips.

You can ride aboard the Potomac  Eagle first class or regular coach class. First class passengers ride in one of the very comfortable, air-conditioned, vintage club cars. Hearty full meals are served.

Regular fare passengers can enjoy snacks (sandwiches, popcorn, nachos, hot dogs, etc.) offered in the train's snack shop.

All passenger cars are comfortable - some feature reversible seats - some have tables (good for bring aboard picnics). Some have open windows so you can see WV up real close. A special "gondola" car is roofless so you can feel the breezes and almost touch the trees - a real close-up view.
