The Discovery Center

is operated by the Maryland

Department of Natural

Resources. Located on the

shores of Deep Creek Lake,

it is an exciting place to

visit, and appeals to folks of

all ages. Activities are

offered year-round and

include canoe trips, lots of hiking, all kinds

of learning experiences and more. The

front of The Discovery Center's brochure

says: "Bringing Natural Resources and

People Together!"

When you visit the 6,000 sq.ft.

educational/interpretive facility, you'll see

a huge 250 gallon aquarium, a nature shop

(a retail store stocked with

environmental and educational

books, nature inspired gifts,

clothing, toys and more), exhibit

rooms, the children's discover

room, classrooms and conference

areas.

Exhibit themes include: The Lake

and Watershed (The Power of

Water); Industrial Development (Coal,
